  • Where to File?

My wife and I currently reside in Nevada. We are looking for the quickest way to get the EAD for myself as it would benefit us tremendously for me to be allowed to work. Do we have to file in Nevada or could we file in Sacremento where the EAD takes one day to process? We are not sure where we are going to settle at.
Also, is it best to file all of the paperwork in person, or by mail. We were married Nov 2001

Not clear whether your 485 is already filed and with what service center.
Find out from the concerned INS offices (look in INS sites field offices link). You have to apply at the nearest sub or District office for an EAD. However in many District offices you are required to file by mail (to the service center that too) and if the SC does not respond within 90 days - you go to the sub/district office to get an interim EAD.
You can also mail it to the nearest district office instead of to SC. Have not seen any great success rate in that route.
