  • Can I translate my own birth certificate?

Some websites say that anyone that is fluent in both English and native languages can translate a birth certificate and it would be accepted by the USCIS. Can I (the beneficiary) translate my own birth certificate?

    Yes, you can ...

... then you need to get your signature on the translated copy notarized.

    Take care.

Just a word of advise on birth certs.

Make sure you including a copy of your ORIGINAL as well if you're going to send a translated copy.

In October I had the Interview and was given an RFE for the original since we only submitted a translated copy. It's been over a month since I sent a copy of the original and we've heard nothing back, so it may slow you down a little bit if you only send the translated copy.
