  • PraetorianX what do you think

    Good day PraetorianX,
I requested your advise a while back and so far I would like for you to see my progress thus far. In August of this year, I entered into the US as a visitor and married my honey a week after my arrival. It was a hard decision for me to make but I stayed. I didn't quit my job neither did I pack my stuff out of the Government quarters that I resided in. So far I have recieved my EAD card and my AOS interview letter states that I need to appear the last week of January at 1300 hrs.

You told me that I will be questioned harder and so far I am preparing myself for this. You once replied to someone that the burden of proof (like in my case) relies on (me) the beneficiary. Please give me any advise that comes to mind in order for me to prepare for my interview. Just so you know, I have never read any of your replies where you bash or put down anyone, you are always respectful and I appreciate that about you.

The interview may or may not be based around this ONE question: Why did you get married within 1 week from entering the USA? and you may or may not be accused of fraud.

Depending on the POE, they may or may not mention this issue... I can not advice you except for be prepared to give your best answer to this question showing that you did not "intend" to immigrate when you entered on a visitor visa... but based on your timeline of events, I find that very hard to believe.

      Understood

      PraetorianX,
Thank you for your honest answer. Like you said, the burden of proof is on me, the beneficiary and I will do my very best to prove to the IO that I didn't intend to stay. We are all faced with different situations you know, some people on these sites know exactly what I mean. The price that people pay to stay with the one they love should not be measured in the way I see some people do.

Thank you for not being too judgmental, although you said that you find it hard to believe that I didn't have intentions to stay. I will focus on my interview and getting my paperwork in order afterwhich, I will let you know the results. Have a great day and keep up the good work.

        Interview Update

        Hi Praetorian X,
I just wanted to update you on my interview. It was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and since there was a lot of people who were going in for citizenship, I got there at 1:21 p.m. The interview was smooth Praetorian X and I was never questioned on intent. I was very relaxed, I had all my paperwork and evidence ready and my daughter and husband were just as relaxed as I was.
The interview took 45 minutes though it wasn't all questions, the IO basically double checked what was already there with the questions she asked us. It was a breeze and I am very happy to tell you that we were approved . I would like everyone to know that the IO's are real people who are not out to do any evil. Just go in confident, listen to the questions and relax, all will go well. Praetorian X, I was very worried at first but I maintained my composer and we aced the interview.
Keep up the good work that you are doing and I hope to get a reply from you.
