I need some advice. I would like to attend a conference about 15 hours away from where I live, and I am considering taking a plane. However, my residency is pending. I am waiting for an EAD and response from my I-485 application. My I-130 was approved and I completed biometrics. Can I use my foreign passport as identification? Does anyone have any advice or experience with traveling within the US?

No problem as long as the ID document is valid. Just carry your 485 receipt copy if you are worried.
I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

You want my own experience ...
... or just general information from others?
I know a lot of people have travelled in United States with passport from those countries which are in the white list.
Sorry, cannot tell you about my own experience as that would be too personal and revealing!
Take care.

Originally posted by historygirlPretty much I'm wondering if anyone has had problems using a foreign passport within the U.S. Were they questioned? detained? etc. Did the TSA give them a difficult time? So, any information would be great.
You have a greater chance of being "randomly selected" for additional questions. If you have a valid US drivers license, that's all you need to travel within the United States. No point flashing a foreign passport if you don't have to.
