  • Son required to be present at interview I-485

    Hello,

I'm married to an America Citizen and have a 17 year old son who is currently here with me and included on my adjust of status application.

So far everything has been fast and smooth, I applied myself without the help of a lawyer.
We sent pretty much all the apps we could all at once, got biometrics appt, received EAD in the mail, applied for socials...now we have the interview date for MARCH 12. (All happened between 10/08 and now)

My only question now is what kind of questions would they ask my son?
Would they separate him from us and ask questions about us?
or would they interview the 3 of us all together?

I understand that sometimes they separate the couple (from reading so many posts ), but what about the minor?

Any replies would be appreciated, any similar situations...people bringing their minors to interview.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND BEST OF LUCK FOR ALL!!!

During our AOS interview, (though each case has to be treated differently) my daughter was allowed to be in the interview and she is also 17 years old. The IO asked us the majority of the questions that was on the I-485 and the I-130. My daughter was just asked to swear and answer basic questions like her age, date of birth and the yes/no questions on the application. I hope things go well, good luck.

Same with bl3ssed what happened to us (me and my son), just simple questions were asked to my son and in less 20 minutes we're done. Good luck!
