I485-Updated Need Birth Certificate

My father got his updated on his i-485 application. USICS want foreign birth certificate and medical report . The problem is he lost his birth certificate 40 years a go. Currently, we live in US, there is no way he can get as copy of his birth certificate from his native country.

My question is . Is it ok for him to get approved green card without birth certificate from native country.
