  • fingerprinting with expired passport?

Is it going to be a problem when the ID brought to the fingerprinting place is an expired passport?

We're starting to jump into the AOS process and look forward to getting to know you all here. What an amazing forum!

I had a buddy who went with an expired passport and the Immigration officer let him do it althought he told him he should not allow it. They both spoke spanish and it was a "help a fellow spanish fellow out please" type thing and my buddy said that the guy looked at him and wispered "im not suppose to do this but...."

Good Luck---if you have to do it you might get lucky---but dont be overly surprised if you need to renew your passport first.
    Just sharing...

      IOs do fingerprinting?

I didn't know there were actual Immigration Officers fingerprinting at the ACS Support Centers. Thanks for the info.

(Passport can't be renewed at this point until the receipt of the green card.)

      Any other experiences?

Well maybe I misspoke...not actual immigration officers...but folks that work in that office. It typically happens in the same place that you would go to for an interview. You are correct---they probably do not have the title as an immigration officer---I was simply typng quickly and thought you might appreciate hearing an experience my friend had....

Oh ok. Yes, I definitely appreciate hearing your friend's experience!

Our district office (for the interviews) and the fingerprinting place are two completely different locations, that's why I was confused.

Which brings me to another question:

What kind of IDs do the ASCs accept for fingerprinting, in general?

            (A valid visa perhaps?)
