  • SSN for new permanent resident

My wife was just approved and received her green card. She was in the US on a student visa and has a SSN from that. Does she need to apply for a new SSN and/or new SSN card?

    Thanks in advance!

No, but she can get the legend that says "work authorization only if approved by DHS" removed from her card.

Thank you for the response. Does she need to request that from the social security organization, or will they do it automatically?

Nothing is automatic. One has to go to SSA with proof.
