I got married last week. My wife is a US citizen. I am in the USA on a student visa. I don't want to take classes this fall so I was wondering when exactly do I get my status. Is it when my wife files I-130? Hope you understand my question.

I read somewhere that I can file I-130 and I-485 at the same time. I thought that I need to have my I-130 approved first before I can apply for adjustment of status. Can I file both forms at the same time?
