Non-Availibility of birth certificate from Chennai

Has anyone received a non-availability of birth certificate recently from Chennai corporation. Folks at the Chennai Corp are not very forthcoming and giving us the right information. I have an uncle in Chennai who is following up and they are making him run around.

Any pointers that help me and future Googlers would be appreciated.

What is your exact requirement for non-availability birth certificate.
I have got one from Chennai corporation. If you really have registered while your birth, check this online link.

Thanks Saam. My birth was not registered with the corporation back then and even though all of my documents specify my date of birth, I dont have a birth certificate to back it up. I was hoping to get a NABC from Chennai corporation and submit that along with my Parents affidavit (as a lot of people on this forum seem to have done).

I was looking to see if someone got a NABC from the Chennai corporation, and how they got it. A number of posts seem to mention that you cannot get a NABC from the Chennai corporation and I wanted that piece of information proved wrong.

I still dont have the NABC from the Chennai Corporation, btw.

You will have to tell the corporation people that you are going to file a petition in Court to get the Birth certificate and hence you need NABC to support that petition.

My personal experience:
After getting NABC i submitted NABC along with my parents and my maternal uncle affidavit for my 485 and subsequently filed a petition with Madras court to obtain the birth certificate and got it with in a month. (So I filed my 485 application only with NABC and affidavits)

In other words you need NABC as well as your Birth Certificate (which was registered late)
Because if you give your BC with late registration, then you must produce NABC before the date you registered your Birth.

Where you able to obtain the NABC for your relative?

We are also in search of a procedure to get NABC for my mother. She is in US with a valid passport. But she does not have a birth references as she was born in 1945. We need this for her immigration papers.

Hi Ashok, Raji, i need to get a NABC for my mom as well from Chennai.

I tried going via yourmainindia.com but the municipality refused to issue the certificate since we did not have any proof of address from the 1940s.

Nee help with NABC (Non Availability of Birth Certificate)

My Spouse's birth was never registered with Chennai Corporation and we tried to get NABC by submitting all proof of address , etc...but, seems like they are bouncing us back and forth stating they DO NOT have his birth record book to verify manually for the year he was born.
They also do not know where will that book be available; In this case, how do we get the NABC. We have been trying hard for 3months and no help;
Please advise if any of you have gone thru' the similar state

Please be aware that as per the Reciprocity Schedule, certificates for births In India prior to 1970 are considered Unavailable and thus do not need an NABC.
You still need to submit the secondary evidence and birth affidavits though.
