Dear Sir/Madam,
I have a simple question:
As of September 2 this year I have legally been in the US for 6 months.
I entered on a B1/B2 Visa, this is still valid for the next five years, however my first six month period is expiring on this date.
If I file an application for Adjustment of Status (to a Family Visa), any time before this date (even September 1st) am I then able to legally remain in the US until that application is reviewed???
The USCIS website is a little unclear regarding this (surprise, surprise), from reading the site info, one files an application, receives a number at a later date, and from that date is able to remain in the US. Hence if I file September 1, and the number arrives say Setember 4, then I have overstayed my Visa??
I trust you can help me,
Thanks in advance.
