  • Should I wait for greencard

I still waiting for greencard after over 3 months after we had interview. This also put stress on my marriage. I married my husband for love and we plan to have a happy live together. I know that include that I work to bring in money to help my low income husband. But until now I cannot get a job and using my savings up. My husband character is also difficult to live with different from the personality I know him before. And the USCIS extended and slow process also make me stress about living here easy and happy. Especially I cannot travel out to visit my family while the process is on.

Difficult marriage make me wish to divorce from my husband and then go to college to learn something then decide what to do. I hope to get a job and support myself. I may also hope to marry again with someone I know better about his financial and character so to be happy in the marriage.

Will I have problem to go to school without greencard. I do have id and social security card.

On a family based petition, your GC is only temporary. You cannot work without the EAD as a divorce will void anything to do with the EAD.

You can travel on a pending 485 outside the country by applying for Advance Parole unless you were illegally present in the country before and are trying to adjust your status now.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.
