  • Co-sponsor question

    Hi there,

I just posted here before; we have finally found a co-sponsor; the person has a great income listed on the returns but there is only one W-2 form per year attached, which shows only about half of what is entered on the tax form, i.e. there is W-2s missing for each year. BUT the W-2 form the person has for each year is far above poverty-line already.

Now my question: Would the missing W-2 forms be a problem, even if the W-2 submitted for each year is far above poverty-line?

More information about the person: retiree and single , no dependents listed on the returns.

I would really appreciate your help.

    Thanks in advance!

If you read the instructions on the I 864 you will see the answer to your question:

"If you provide a photocopy of your tax return(s), you must include a copy of each and every Form W-2 and Form 1099 that relates to your return(s). Do not include copies of these Forms if you provide an IRS transcript of your return(s) rather than a photocopy."

If your sponsor cant produce all the W-2s, then use their IRS transcripts.

    All the best
