I-765 in conjunction with I-485

I am filling out an I-765 form in conjunction with an I-485 form to adjust my status because I have recently signed marriage papers with an American citizen. I am currently on an OPT [Optional Practical Training] visa that expires in January 2010. Which of the following options should I check on the I-765 form?
I am applying for:
-Permission to accept employment
OR
-Renewal of my permission to accept employment?

I would pick the second option because I am currently on an OPT visa that allows me to work and technically I am applying for another visa that will also allow me to work though it will not be an OPT. If anyone has a clearer idea, please help.

If you never had an EAD card b4 u need to pick,,,Permission to accept employment, with your ead card based on i-485 u can work anywhere u want, and by the way I hope u don't say u signed papers with a USC on your forms, it doesn't sound to good at all, u need to say my wife/husband.

My wife is in the same situation.

She's on an OPT VISA, which will expire on July 17, 2010. I'm also wondering which of the following she should be checking:

i. Permission to Accept Employment
ii. Replacement
iii. Renewal of my permission to accept employment.

I originally thought it was choice (iii) but, after reading this post, I'm even mor confused now.

My wife has already applied for an OPT VISA, so wouldn't she now fall into the category of choice (iii) in the I-765 Form?

Please clarify why she would choose choice (i) and not choice (iii).

John710, I'm not sure if she has an ead card or not, U need to send a copy of your ead card if u pick iii. Renewal of my permission to accept employment.
