  • AOS Interview Question

Hi there. I have applied for a marriage-based green card (my wife is USC). I submitted the I-130 and I-485 concurrently, and just got called for the initial interview. Unfortunately (and foolishly) I never made any copies of these forms before mailing off my application. Is this a problem? Also, I have already submitted a lot of supporting material to prove that we have a bona fide marriage (marriage cert, bank account statement, airplane tickets, auto insurance, wedding invites, wedding pictures, affidavits from her parents, etc...). Do I need to bring all of these things with me again? Will the interviewing officer be in possession of all of the items I've sent in thus far? Any information from other who have gone through this would be helpful.
    Thanks.

well it's always good to have copies of everything that u sent to USCIS, but i do not think that will be a problem, and u need to have everything the asked for in the interview notice and copies of all the documents u sent with your applications at the time of interview.
Just to let u know, I went to my interview lastweek and i had copies of everything except for 1 document they asked for in the interview notice, i did not have enough time to get it and he said you are approve but i need that document for my file, so he gave me an appt for next week,,and by the way i've been here for over 22 years, he had my papers when i came into the country.

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask what the document in question was?

I wanted to follow up on this. We just got approved for the green card. Our interview was in Memphis,TN. I only had to show my passport and driver's license, and my wife had to show here license. I had to confirm name, D.O.B and address. The only other question was where/when did we meet. I had an entire box full of documents (most of which I'd already submitted) ready to show the officer, but in the end it was all unnecessary. Here are my case details:

Wife is USC, I was here on H1-B when we married. Filed I-485 and I-130 concurrently.
          Application acceptance: Sept 28th, 2009
          Biometrics: October 29th, 2009
Interview and approval: Dec 15th, 2009
          Welcome notice: Dec 19th, 2009

Thanks to this website and forum and all who contribute for helping me get all the paperwork sorted - you saved me a lot of time and money.
          Cheers!!
