Hi immehelp admin,

I have applied for my 485 and got the receipt. i did not get EAD. i am renewing my H1B as it is valid till only Dec 2001. What is the maximum time limit by when i can add the dependent? My to-be-spouse is on a H1 & his tenure is for another 2 years. I havent yet got my fingerprints. Attorney said that i can add the dependent untill after i get my fingerprints. is this true?

If you mean adding spouse in I-485 process, you can do that any time before your I-485 is approved. But you don't know exactly when your I-485 will be approved. And it does not usually take long time for I-485 to get approved after fingerprinting. So your lawyer is kind of right. You should add your spouse before finger prints.
