I-485, 180 days rule.

Since, nowadays, it is taking long time to get the I-485 receipt, from which date the 180 days rule applies? Is it receipt date or the notice date? Where should I get more info.

ANy information will be greatly appreciated.

The 180 days is counted from the received date (the earlier date).

When you change employers after 180 days, at the California Service Center you need to write a letter to the INS informing them of your change. That's all. The INS will then follow up and contact the new employer to be sure the employment is valid. It needs to be in the same type of work as your old job. Your old lawyer should be able to help you write this letter and be sure that procedures are the same at your service center. I-485 attorney fees are paid ahead of time, so you've already paid for this service. Don't be afraid to ask.
