W2 and IRS return needed with I-485?

Immihelp is a great forum.
Does one need to submit W2 and income tax returns filed for last 3 years with I-485? That part is not shown on immihelp in procedure for I-485, but one of my friends is saying that one need to submit that.

You submit tax returns with I-864 which is submitted along with the I-485.

I believe I-864 is not applicable for employment based.
Is it applicable to derivative applicants?
