  • Any experiences about I-485 denied after interview?

    Hi all,

me and my wife will have to attend my interview in a couple of weeks.
searching in the forum, I found tons of interview experiences, all with a good end)

But I was unable to find any experience about a denied AOS after the interview. Just few cases, in the past, for missing RFE or false declaration on paper.

assuming that I have no criminal record and that all my documents are correctly filled out (no RFE received), what else could go so wrong during the interview to convince the IO to deny the approval?

I Know, this is a question that could bring bad luck, but I really want to make sure I do things in the right way.

thank you all for the amazing help.

If your marriage is real, you have no criminal record and provided all the required documents, then is only a formality to finish the process. Good luck.

If you filed all your documents correctly, and your marriage is real, i dont think you will have a problem at the interview. I have to say the IOs are well trained and they can sense if your marriage is real or not. Also, you really don't know what the IO will ask you, but if your marriage is real, you will be able to answer it easily.

if you're marriage is real, then don't worry about anything. My wife was super nervous for her interview, but we got approved. we provided little evidence of joint accounts (only 1 banking statement) and we still got approved.

Marriage is (unfortunately ) real. Married in Boston three yeas ago plus 8 years on domestic relationship (in Italy).
just worried about the question: why you did not get married before when you were in Italy and got married in US?

the truth is that we got married for Visa reasons; three years ago I was an L-1A and she needed an L-2 to obtain her EAD.
but i do not want that this answer would sound like we got married for convenience and not because we both were really in love..

So your I-485 is not because of marriage to USC but L-1A to GC?

              sorry. my bad..
my I-485 is an IR-1. My wife had her citizenship approved on September 2018.
but three years ago, when I have been relocated for job from Italy to US, she was not a US Citizen yet, so she needed an EAD to work.

Oh, ok. I think you need to relax, 8 years of domestic relationship and now married for over 3 years, I don't think that you only married for her to have EAD, and definitely you didn't marry just to get a GC after her citizenship.

I believe if the foundation of your marriage is love and been together, you should have nothing to worry about. Valerian helps though... keep us posted. Good luck!
