  • Marriage Interview Scheduled - Do I need a new medical exam? I-683

(Sorry for the typo in the title, I can't seem to fix it. I meant form I-693)

My husband and I are scheduled at the SF office for a marriage interview on May 6th. Finally, I see the green card coming into view! I've read the paperwork; and I've read numerous other posts but I seem to be more confused. Can someone tell me simply, does my husband need a new medical exam? Yes or No? He had a physical in his country before coming in on a K-1 Visa, he handed the first sealed I-693 to the immigration officer. So we no longer have a sealed or any version of the form. I'm not sure if it sticks with our case or how it works. I'm not sure what the immigration office does with it. I also read about the new policy update from Nov. 2018 that the medical exams now last 2 years instead of 1. So I'm confused! A new medical exam in my area starts at $150 (each shot is a separate fee $$ which is also expensive) so if it is not necessary, please respond. I appreciate all your knowledge and wisdom on these forums. Thank you!

    Maybe this will help:

    and under 'what to submit'
Note: If you received a medical examination before being admitted to the United States, you may not need to have another examination but you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. See the Form I-693 Instructions for more information.
Did you receive a letter that you need to brin another I-693?

I guess the I-693 was signed more than 60 days before sending I-485, right? so maybe it is only good for 1 year, I'm not sure.

In my area most ask for $450 any vaccines are extra.

Thanks Enub, that webpage was very helpful. So it does sound like his previous I-693 may still be good.

You could try calling USCIS and asking them directly? I'm not sure if they can help but that's what I would also do.

If they didn't send you a notice requesting a new I-693 it may still be valid.

The worst that can happen, as far as I know, is they may ask for a new one on your interview and they will give you time to send it.
