  • Birth certificate of petitioner AOS Interview UScitizen

    Hi,

I got my notice for interview in the mail last Friday (4/19/2019). In the notice, it asks for birth certificates of both me and my husband (USC). Since when we submitted the application, USCIS did not ask for the petitioner's birth certificate, we have not prepared it. My husband was born in South Korea and moved to the US when he was 8. He could not locate his birth certificate. The interview is in a few weeks. Is there any suggestion in how to handle this? He does not have close relatives in South Korea now so not sure how to proceed.

My priority date was 12/27/2019, applying from Massachusetts.

It's probably a form letter that is asking to bring proof of the petitioner's US citizenship, which could be a birth certificate showing birth in the US, or could also be a US passport or Certificate of Naturalization. The letter was probably not clear that any of the forms of proof of citizenship would be fine.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
