  • Changing address two weeks before the interview

    Hi everyone!
I applied for adjustment of status based on marriage, my husband is a citizen and I came here on f-1 visa.
My interview is scheduled for two weeks from now, in Cleveland, but we are moving now to Atlanta. We planed this move for a while and thought that we could just come back up to Cleveland for the interview. But now after reading about it I see it's impossible. My sister is getting married back in my home country in a month and a half from now, so I really need this interview to happen as quickly as possible.
    I understand I have to file A-11,
Any recommendations? What can I do in order to have the interview rescheduled as fast as possible?

    Thank you so much!!

Hi, USCIS guidelines say you should notify within 10 days after moving your address change, and based on that they would decide if they are transferring your case or not, once said that I can tell from personal experience, I changed address twice in less than 3 months (and in this time interview notice came, got interviewed, and right after last change I got the update new card is being produced, i am waiting for it) I had no issues with it and also I noticed they did not verify other than sending notice of action of 2 of my 4 pending forms (the other 2 I got them via email).
Also in this forum I read about someone similar to you and the minute they stepped into office for interview were told they didnt belong to that jurisdiction anymore and made them wait another interview scheduled.
So pretty much by your own risk decide if notifying now or immediately after interview, which personally if I was in some emergency I would consider go with the last one, but hey, im unable to give legal advice or even very objective one, since most of us here reach real anxiety due to this process.
    good luck

My firend was in the exact same situation. her Husband (USC) got a job and had to relocate a month before the interview, but she did not change anything prior the interview. No change of adress in usps, no change od DL nothing. She just waited until after the interviwe to change it all and had no issues. Yours is only 2 weeks so if you could dont change it and attend interviwe there. Tehicly its still legal because you have 10 days after the move so if you moved a week before the interviwe then the 10 days still fall n it
