  • Where and how do you send an AP expedite request?

It is not clear from the USCIS website where and how to send an Advance Parole expedite request. Information I have read online assumes you are requesting an emergency expedite before you submit the I-131 form, which is not our case.

    Background:
I-131 along with I-485, I-130, I-765 were all submitted to Chicago lockbox on 1/14/19. Fingerprints complete, and case has been ready to be scheduled for interview since 4/3/19.

Since then, my husband, who is a PhD student, has been invited to speak at a conference overseas. In essence he would be representing his university and therefore this request would fall under USCIS criteria for expediting, which includes "a nonprofit organization whose request is in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the United States." We could get a letter from both the hosting university confirming his invitation as well as a letter from his university confirming that his participating would fall under this USCIS criteria. We could submit all of this with a cover letter, but how and where to send is unclear to me.

Any guidance you can provide is much appreciated.

Hi - I would recommend calling USCIS (just google the number) and requesting the expedite on the phone. I just did that last week for my AP. Then they'll send you an email within 5 days and give you a fax number to send in your supporting evidence. Give it a shot and see if it works. Good luck.

As I understand it, in order to use that criteria, the request has to come from the non-profit, not from you or your husband.

Thank you for your responses. We sent our request and evidence to our senator for him to submit, including letters from the university hosting the conference, as well as my husband's university which stated why this activity complied with USCIS criteria for expedite. Hopefully that will be sufficient.
