  • Concerned about STD after having submitted I-693. Interview this week!

    • I need urgent help!!! I filed my I-693 in 2016. I did the gonorrhea test and everything was fine. Well I caught an STD last year and got treatment for it. My concern is: Will the USCIS check the Department of Health Database to see if applicants caught stds or will they only go off the results on the I-693. I got treatment late last year and had to wait a few months for a follow up visit. I have not been able to do my follow up visit as yet.

If you filed I-693 in 2016 then they will ask for a new one.

There is no database. It is illegal for doctors in the USA to share your medical info without your consent. The government has no knowledge of your medical history. All they have is on the i693. Yours is expired and you'll need a doctor to fill a new one for you. If you no longer have an STD no one will ever know.

The only thing is I will have to go to the Dr. Take a test and it might take weeks for the results to come back. Interview is this week.

I guess if you go to your interview and they ask for the I-693, you can say that the request said 'unless already submitted' they will take a look at what they have on file and will tell you that it is expired and you should get a new one. They will give you some time to get a new one before approving your case.

Not having the I-693 can delay your approval for several weeks, but now it doesn't matter, there is no way you can get a new physical in time.

You might want to think about using condoms with strangers in the future, too.
