  • Approved on the spot!!!

    Hello everyone!

I have been reading these posts for over a year now and I must say that it has helped tremendously!!!
We were approved on the spot and I must say that our interview was less or an interview and more of a regular conversation you would have with a friend.

My PD was 11/06/2017. Everything started going really smoothly and stopped suddenly. We thought something was wrong, so we called and was told that our case was within normal processing time.

After waiting 17 long months, we finally got the notice that the case was ready to be scheduled for an interview. I read all the posts here about what evidence we should bring and how to organize our information.

Our interview was schedule for May 13 (last Monday) at 11:20am at 26 Federal Plaza (NY) on the 8th floor in room 8-800. For NY filers, based on which borough you live in your floor number would be different. In our case, we live in Brooklyn so our floor was the 8th floor.

We arrived about 10:50am and waited for about an hour before being called. We watched people come and go and just sat and chatted.

Our IO was a really cool guy and our conversation was very friendly. He barely even looked at our evidence. When we got it he asked who was the Citizen and my wife answered and he told her where to sit. He then asked, so what originals do you guys have today and I took out our birth certificates which he never even looked at.

He had all our original forms and circled everything in a red pen to show that it was checked. He barely looked at our folder which he noticed was well organized.

He asked us questions about how we met (which he laughed at cause its a really funny story). How many kids we have and we talked about him having a garden at his house and we're coming to visit to get some vegetables.

He even told me what to do when I get the conditional card (we will be married for 2 years next month). He gave us some good advice on what to do as far as applying for citizenship. He was impressed with our organization and how we did everything without a lawyer.

I made a cover page for our binder that reads : My name and my spouse's name Bona Fide marriage. The month and year we met to present The date of the interview and the place (USCIS).

We had a table of contents and lots of evidence. We brought our entire photo album, tax returns and luggage tags from various trips we took together.

After chatting for about 45 minutes, he gave us the stamp of approval. I received the card on Saturday.

If anyone has questions, I will be more than happy to answer them.
