  • I-693 after I-485 rejected.

My I-485 was sent back to me 30 days after applying and they opened the medical. Now since I had to speak to a lawyer and USCIS about resubmitting the application, it's taken an additional 30 days. My medical has expired.
Now the doctor's office is saying that I have to do labs and physical again from scratch. I am more pissed by the doctor because he is saying he can't use labs and physical taken 60 days prior. Has this happened to anyone else and did you have to pay (in my case $480) again?
If they were charging me a small fee to reseal and sign the paperwork again that would be reasonable. Don't forget they don't accept insurance which I have.
Anyone with any advice on what to do? If they insist on charging me again, I am better of waiting until I get an interview date.

I'm sorry this happened to you. The problem in this case is that the rules are enforced. Many people that submitted the I-693 ended expiring and had to do it again. Several lawyers now send the forms without I-693 and later, upon request, the physical is done.

Is $480 the lowest around you? Most try to charge $450 around here, a few $390 and found 1 at $300 plus vaccines if needed.

That was the lowest fee I could get. I am wondering why the Doctor himself has to do another physical exam and labs when he examined me 60 days ago. Generally, a doctor's exam is valid for a year unless they have reason to suspect that your condition has changed. I haven't seen anything other than for positive TB test that says when the exam itself should be done prior to signing the form.
