On Form i-485, part 8, item 17

I am confused about this question have you violated the condition of your non-immigrant status.

My application for asylum was received 3 days after my authorised stay of my visa expired. Does this mean that terms and condition of non immigrant status was violated?

Answer Yes. (Even if you applied for asylum before your status expired it would still be Yes. A pending application doesn't give you status.)

How do i explain this on the form?

I have a question in regards to this as well. I am in my grace period after F1, and we are about to file the AOS package. Technically, I am still able to be in the country for 60 days after my F1 expiration.Am I supposed to say yes or no to that?

Just factually state the date your status ended and that you stayed after that. No further explanation is necessary (assuming you are in a category where having been out of status doesn't matter).
