Rescheduling Interview Appointment

I just got an update “Interview was Scheduled” so im guessing it should be sometime next month. My husband is active duty military and might be leaving soon for a few months. Im guessing our only option is to reschedule. Have anyone had to reschedule? How long did your new interview date take? Im scared its going to take a longggg time. Thank you!

Hi, i think there is an exception for the active duty military interviews if one party can not attend the interview due to the military reasons.

I would suggest that you should talk to a lawyer about this situation.

2. Military Personnel Petitioners

USCIS may waive the personal appearance of the military spouse petitioner; however, the adjustment applicant must appear for an interview. USCIS makes every effort to reschedule these cases so that both the petitioner and adjustment applicant can attend the interview before deployment. The adjustment applicant may choose to proceed while the petitioner is abroad.

Here is an old FAQ that say that you can go without your spouse but bring copy of the official orders:

I guess that if you prefer to reschedule you can do that too.

I don't have experience, but from the information I posted, they may be able to give you an appointment before deployment. If they can't, I think is better to go to your appointment and not change it for a future date unless you know when your husband will be available. Good luck.

Hello Daisyx28, My husband is active duty too and stationed abroad. I just had my Interview alone last Tuesday June 4th, the officer understands and I just gave a copy of his Official order with a letter from his Commander. I would suggest to not reschedule and just go by yourself, because depending on your field office it may take months to a year before they schedule you again. Best of luck to you!

Omg thank you so much for this information! I doubt that they will be able to reschedule since he got orders to deploy on a short notice and leaving soon. I will definitely go by myself and take those documents with me! Last question, how was your interview? Did they ask you the same questions? my husband is currently serving overseas and just got my interview confirmation and I fear my husband won’t be present. So I just want to be prepared
