  • Medical Exam question

I might sound a bit dumb but whats the process for the medical exam? Do I print out the form I-693 and give it to my doctor and tell him its for immigration? Do I have to go get a blood test and return for a second appointment and wait for the lab results or is it done that same day? Im asking because the lady I spoke to sounded confused about the medical exam and she said it takes up to 2-3 weeks to get my blood work results back. My interview is next month so I just want to make sure she knows what’s she’s doing. Thank you!!!

    Hey Daisy.
You can go online, on the USCIS website and look for a civil surgeon in your area. They will know for sure.
They will also advise you about the documents that you need to bring.

You don't go with your doctor, you need to find a doctor who is authorized by USCIS to do the exam: https://my.uscis.gov/findadoctor (if your doctor is authorized, great, but if they are confused, then I bet is not)

The price varies a lot, the days for appointments too. Usually, if you have all the vaccines and there is no false positive TB, you should get the results and signed form in a sealed envelope in 5-7 days.

The clinic we visited, they needed:
      • ID - we used our passport
      • Form I-693 with only part 1, part 2 and not signed at the end of part 2, you need to sign in front of the authorized doctor
      • Vaccines record
      • Pay the full amount

You can go to your doctor and ask for immune test for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and varicella to avoid those vaccines. They will need to give you Tdap, and Influenza if in flu season. Those are the vaccines required for people 18-64 years. Or they can give you all the vaccines again.

To add: most health insurances cover all vaccines at no cost so no harm in getting new ones!
