Hi,

My sponsor is finding it difficult to find W2 to submit along with copy of their tax return. What can be done? Can my sponsor download and print a copy of their tax return transcript from the IRS website?

A tax return transcript can be ordered from the IRS website, and if that is provided a W-2 shouldn't be needed, unless the sponsor filed as Married Filing Jointly and the spouse's income isn't counted.

Thanks newacct. On the IRS website you have the option of downloading and printing the tax return transcript or ordering and it gets mailed to you. I want to know if immediately download and printing of the tax return transcript will be enough evidence for I-864?

Yes, and IRS Tax Return Transcripts are preferred over copies of the tax return anyway. The transcript proves that the return was filed and accepted by the IRS. The copy of a tax return only proves that you filled out the forms, not that it was submitted to the IRS.

Yes, they are the same no matter if you download it or have it mailed to you.
