  • Priority Date

    Hi,

I am kind of confused with the priority date.
Filed Regular concurrently on March 1st, 2019 EB3
Received receipt notice on May 15th, 2019.
On i-485 receipt notice, my priority date shows October 17th, 2018. What does it mean? I have to wait until then to get my combo card? Online it says that thats when my visa becomes available, so interview has to be after that date? Thanks in advance.

Employment-based applications usually go through the PERM process, and your priority date is whenever that is started. For example, for me, we didn't submit the I-485 until March 2019, but my priority date is in May 2018 because that's when the PERM process started.

As for when a visa becomes available, you need to check your priority date against the visa bulletin here: https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...june-2019.html. If your priority date is after the date listed there (or marked with a C), a visa is available. It should be current for you unless you're from China, India or the Philippines.

As for the combo card, you should check processing times here: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/. Just keep in mind they're taking a while now (around 6-8 months).

So you sent the I-485 on March 1st and received the receipt on May 15th? That's a long time.

Yes, it was a long time, but it says it was received on March 5th when I track it.
