  • Am I Entitled To Contact Ombudsman Yet?

I recently spoke with a friends wife who went through the AOS process about 6 months before I did and during the conversation she told me that once the status of her cases passed 90 days without update she contacted an ombudsman to find out what was going on and if any further information was required from her as she didn't want to waste time waiting for them to inform her if that was the case. She said that she felt this seemed to speed up her case as she received updates about her EAD shortly after doing this.

I'm wondering if I should do the same thing as the cases for my I-485 and I-765 are currently at 103 days and 107 days without update. The last update I got was for my biometrics appointment which I attended on April 12th and I haven't heard a single thing since. With the fact that my cases are over 90 days, am I entitled to contact an ombudsman at this point to find out if there is a hold up or something else is required? I'd hate to be sitting around wasting time while they contact me to say this if that turns out to be the case. Any info or help from somebody who has contacted one would be appreciated!

From what I read, many times they just answer "within normal processing times", but they need to dedicate time to read/check/process the request. I don't think will benefit you and they will use resources that should be used for older cases.

The waiting game is hard but we need to be patient and focus on something else.
