Request for Initial Evidence

Today when I checked the online status and it updated to “we mailed a request for initial evidence for your form I-485”. Can someone explain to me what that is and what kind of evidence I need to submit?

They can ask for many things.

marriage certificate
birth certificate
Sponsor

etc....

You will have to wait for the letter to know what they want. Usually they give you more than 2 months to send back all the information they need, so don't worry about that.
