Should the derivative I-485 petition be organized separately from the primary I-485?

Hi,

We're going to file I-485 together (primary + derivative), and I have two questions regarding how we should organize the package.

1. For primary and derivative, do we need to bind/fasten each I-485 application, including the corresponding supporting documents, separately?
2. And does each I-485 application require their own cover letter and exhibit index? One for primary, one for derivative?

We kept ours separate, but made sure the derivative also had copies of approved I140, etc. Cover letter and index aren't required. As far as I remember, we had 2 cover letters, but they were the same. If only derivative had certain evidence, wrote down derivative's name in parentheses.
