My wife and I had our interview at Oakland Park, FL this morning. The IO called us into her office, swore us in and then asked for our IDs. I gave her both of our passports, and she asked for local IDs so we gave her our driver licences. She took my fingerprints and a photo of me, and started looking through our file. She asked me for my date of birth, current address, and my last entry into the US. I had traveled on my advanced parole since when we filed, so she made a note of it in the file. She then went through about 40 of the 80 inadmissibility questions. She asked for my medical - I passed it over, but she didn't open it and just added it to the file.
She then turned to my wife and asked her how we met. My wife answered that we met through work, and the IO asked for more information. My wife gave her a one minute overview of where we met, our first date, when we officially started dating, etc. The IO then asked who proposed, and my wife replied that I did. She asked for when and where it was, so my wife gave her another 1 minute overview when it was, where it happened, how I asked her, that I had spoken to her dad beforehand, etc. The IO made a joke about me colluding with her dad and the conversation become a bit light-hearted.
She then printed a form and asked us to sign it. It was saying that we it would be a conditional green card if approved, and we would need to renew after 2 years, etc.
She then asked us if we had any additional evidence. We handed over a binder with all the evidence and a table of contents. She scanned through the table of contents and started flicking through the folder when I mentioned that we also have a photo album if she is interested in seeing that. She closed the evidence, took the photo album and went through it page by page (roughly 120 photos). She immediately became a lot more friendlier and conversational. She commented on different photos - asking who certain people were in a family picture; said that my wife's 90 year old grandmother looks like a boss lady; commented on the cake at our wedding, saying that she loves cake and that it looked like an amazing cake and asked what flavour it was; commented at a photo of us at the Grand Canyon that she had also been and how she didn't like it because she felt like she was going to fall in, etc. We joked back and forth with her a few times.
After she looked at the photos, she typed for a bit on her computer, and printed another form saying that we had completed the interview and the case was under review. She then took the whole folder of evidence that we had, added it to the file and closed the file. She then said that she has all that she needs and will review everything after the interview, thanked us and said that we would receive a decision notice in the mail.
The entire interview took about 25 minutes in total. She was very tough and a bit cold at the beginning, but definitely warmed up once my wife had told her my story and became very friendly and conversational when going through the photos. I received a text message about 3 hours later that the case was approved and a new card was being produced! Yay!!
