Call your local social security office and inquire if the SSN is in process or if you will need to apply separately directly to the SSA. I waited over a month after receiving the combo card and got nothing. We called today and they said we had to apply to SSA in person. We have an appt Friday. So don't wait. Maybe because you are in NYC. My hubby went in to his appt this morning. His was the only 9am appt. He submitted the SS-5 application and the supporting documents including the original work permit combo card. Try a different location. The local office closest to my house wasn't even taking phone calls.Comment

Another closed month for USCIS offices? looks like they extended up to June 4th. Any idea on how long will it take to get back on track? I mean... they have to catch up with canceled interviews, how many weeks were canceled?
I guess the question is how many weeks to add to the date they finally open up again to try and guesstimate when we can expect to get scheduled?
