I had my interview (Employment based) today. Everything went smooth and quick. Except: birth certificate. I didn't have original birth certificate. I submitted Affidavit along with school leaving certificate. However, he wants me to get a govt issued letter for non availability of birth record or original birth certificate. He said he will give me RFE for that.

At the end,the officer mentioned with the retrogression for India visa, right now anyways he couldn't issue visa so he asked me to make attempt to get the birth certificate.

Question for Indians here: How long it takes to obtain birth certificate? I have 2 months to submit. Is it easy process?

Overnight, I had my cousin get to the corporation... He engaged an agent. They will search for the records and let us know in a week's time if record is available. This is doable. I think I will get the document sooner than 2 months.
