Got my interview but NO ead

    08-13-2019, 04:21 PM
    Hi all,

I have my AOS interview in less than a week I filed my paperwork in May 2019 but havent got any update on EAD after fingerprints were done. [Office is in NJ]

and ofcourse I130 and Advance parole status is just "received"

    Have 2 questions:

    1. How to prepare for the interview or what should I expect? Anyone with recent experience can share that would be great

    2. Should I worry about EAD because they may not make any decision and I still wont be able to have ability to work?

    thank you in advance.

Not sure how much merit there is to this but I’m hearing lately they don’t issue EAD and travel permits. So you’ll basically have the interview and you either get approved or denied. From there you’ll receive your green card and if denied ... then.... you know what follows
      Marriage AOS (from tourist visa)
Received Nov 4th& Priority Date also Nov 4th
I130 i485 & work permit (did not apply for travel documents )

Nov 15 received 2 hard copies for NOA
Nov 22 Received biometrics appointment Notice
      Biometrics done, Dec 2nd.

Jan 6 2020 courtesy letter for missing medical (dated Dec 31 2019, mailed Jan 2nd 2020)
Ready to be scheduled for interview (Jan 31st 2020)

You wont need an EAD if you get approved next week. We got the EAD and 3 weeks later our interview with same day approval. had EAD for a total of 3 weeks LOL. Good Luck with the interview.

I have read many cases where the interview is in less than 6 months that people will not get EAD and instead are approved for GC.

For many, EADs are taking 8 months or more. If you get an interview in less than that, you won't get an EAD.

If you go to your interview and don't get a decision for several months, then you may get the EAD.

I think by now you already had the interview. How was it?

For the many posts here, submitting in May 2019 and getting an interview in August 2019 is considered super fast.

I read news that they change the policy of EAD for people who are waiting for the green card . basically . they will start tighten up give EAD .

I hope it means that they will issue the GC faster so there is no need to get the EAD.

At the very least, it sure seems like a change in policy. There have been a lot of these experiences where people never get the EAD and simply get the green card. I agree with Enub4 that hopefully it also results in green cards being processed quickly.

By the way, do you have a link to where you read that?

It looks like its getting harder and harder to get EAD before GC interview. At this point I'm nervous about even getting a response back about my expedite never mind being accepted or denied.

We would rather have the interview than the EAD.

Anyone not getting EAD but got interview would do just fine. I got mine approved. It's better option I guess.
