Asking an input from people that are experienced with the process. My husband and I already had an interview back in February of this year. My husband is the US citizen. It was a little tense at the beginning but is smoothed out towards the end. The officer was a lady, respectful and friendly. She did promise that she would approve the application once we submit the documents she requested. She even called my husband the next day to to reassure him that the case will be approved and instructed him on what documents to fax. My son’s (Born in the US) birth certificate from a previous relationship, our lease to show the current address and a court document about an incident that occurred in 2011. The incident was a misdemeanor and first offense, I went through diversion program and it has been expunged. She told us there was no issue with it at all since it wasn’t a conviction as long as all court requirements were met. We faxed everything she wanted but I think the missing part was the right court document. So she sent us an RFE in the mail explaining what she exactly wanted which was a police report. We responded to the RFE on May 3rd. It is now been 100 days since we mailed in the RFE and haven’t heard anything. I’m in Atlanta and people are saying Atlanta is so behind. I’m really nervous. The status on the website on I485 is “interview was scheduled” and I130 is “case was received”
has anyone experienced RFE after interview? I know my options are to contact my congressman. Should I do it now? My EAD renewal just got approved. My 2 year wedding anniversary was just two months ago.
Would appreciate any input.
