    Hey my fellow Filipino.
I traveled to MNL last February with overstayed visa, and used AP to come back.
You don’t need to worry. You’ll be fine. You’ll need to go to secondary inspection though when you enter our airport here. If youre going with your husband, make sure when you guys come back here, go to the US citizen line. Dont split up.
In MNL airport, the airport people might not be familiar with the ead combo card, so they might check it with their supervisor.
anyway if you have question, feel free to ask.
    Goodluck.

My Filipino Wife had a 24 year overstay, no problems at all. We had no problem at Manila and at LAX did secondary inspection but that is normal for anyone traveling on an EAD. Enjoy your trip home.

Thanks for the info. I would really love to go back home but you know im hesitant coz my husband is scared that they wont let me in. I havent change my passport tho. It’s still on my maiden name. And my combo card is my married name. Is it best to renew my passport first?

Hi! Thanks for the response! Is your wife’s passport in her married name? Coz i haven’t changed mine still on my maiden name and my combo is my married name.

Are you allowed to change your passport to your married name? Our passports are from Mexico and they can only be on maiden name, but there is an extra and optional area that can display the spouse last name.

I have read that some people travel with a copy of the marriage certificate too, that way they have no problems with passport in maiden name and AP/GC in married name. Of course is better if you can change the passport to be the same as AP/GC.

Yes we are allowed. In the Philippines it is automatic that you used your husband’s last name once you got married. Like you’re obligated to change your maiden name to married name in all your legal documents

Oh thats a good question. Unfortunately I can’t answer that myself since my husband and I are an LGBT couple and neither of us changed our last names.
Wish I could help you on that part. But, going home shouldnt be a problem. Exiting the country was super fast. They just check your ticket and passport. I think as long as the ticket matches your passport then youre good. They dont check youre marital status. And coming back, they verify your combo card in the secondary inspection.

We kept her maiden name on all the immigration papers. We have yet reported the marriage to the Philippines so her passport is still in her maiden name also. Easier that way. When you fly you will probably have to fly under your maiden name as you need a passport to get on the flight.
