  • About to file, Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything

Hello, so I am a Canadian Citizen, married my wife (U.S. citizen) last month. I am getting the paperwork together and just want to make sure that I have everything I need. I have the following documents filled out:

    - I-130
    - I-485
    - I-765
    - I-864
    - G-1145

I have a few questions, which I will number:

    1. Do I need to file the I-131? I don't plan on traveling outside the U.S. before the green card process is completed

    2. Is it better to file the I-693 with everything else? Or should I just wait until they request if after receiving my application?

    3. Is the general consensus to just include as much evidence as you can for a bona fide marriage? How many pictures would be too many?

    4. My wife hasn't changed her name yet, would it be an issue if she changed her name while we are going through the green card process? I just wouldn't wan to have an issue if we sent her ID's and then come interview time, her ID's have a different name on them.

    5. If you do not have any additional information to fill out on the last pages of one of the forms, do you still include the blank additional info page when you file it?

    6. I know the I-130 requires passport photos or both of us, and the I-485 requires passport photos of me as well, can I simply give them one set since I am filing them at the same time?

There may be more questions, but that is all I can think of right now, I guess I'll update if I think of any more, thank you so much for any help that you can provide

1.- Usually people file I-131 even if they don't plan to travel
2.- If you don't want to pay for everything now, you can wait for your interview to give them the I-693. You can shop around in the mean time because the process and prices for each doctor/clinic can vary a lot. Most likely, if you don't send it, you will get a courtesy letter asking for it and bring it to your interview.
3.- Most people front load the application. Just send relevant information and not everything that can be considered too much. I have the idea that too little and too much is not right.
4.- I don't think it matters much. That is a common practice in USA, so they know that changing to married name can take time. They don't ask you to do something that regular married people will not do, in other words, they don't expect that your wife will wait many months before changing the name.
    5.- Yes, include every page.
6.- I think you need to give 2 identical photos for I-130 and other 2 for I-485. Some people even send another 2 for I-765 and 2 more for I-131, but I don't think that's needed.

Just make sure that you have the correct fees. I have seen people sending more or less and that will delay the application.
They expect one payment for I-130 and one for I-485 with biometric fee. In some cases if you pay I-485 and biometrics separately they will return the package for wrong fee. Good luck.
