SSN required to register myaccount.uscis.gov

Hi there. This is another confusing thing in my process as I am trying to create and verify my account to see updates on my case.
myaccount.uscis.gov keeps taking me to a myeverify page where it is asking for my Social Security Number. I am waiting on my work permit and they haven't issued the SSN yet. How can I keep track of my case if I don't have it ??
