My priority date is not current yet. But being called for I-485 interview. Does it mean that my date may become current soon? Once the interview is over i just have to wait until my date becomes current? My date is December 2009. Share your thoughts please? I am being given confused opinion from friends so far. Thanks in advance.

I-485 Interview

Sometimes people can file I-485 before the PD is current (to get GC). Then dates can change and retrogress too. We filed for EB application before our PD was current (for Final Action Date) thanks to USCIS saying we can use Dates for Filing.
For example, someone from India in the EB3 category with PD December 2009 could have filed for AOS in December 2018 because USCIS allowed people to file in EB category using the Date for Filing chart from the Visa Bulletin that in Dec 2018 showed 01JAN10 (after PD) even when the Final Action Date showed 01MAR09 (before PD).
Because the Final Action Date hasn't reached Dec 2009 is not possible for the person in the example to get a GC, even if they schedule an interview. If everything goes well at the interview, the officer will say that the person just has to wait until the Final Action Date for the category is past the PD.
I have read a couple of posts from people that get the interview even if the PD is not current according to the Final Action Date, and within two weeks in the month, the PD became current, the status change to indicate that the GC will soon be delivered.
Good luck with your interview and I hope that you get your GC soon. Keep an eye on the Visa Bulletin, I hope your PD became current in October (start of the new fiscal year).Nov 2018 - Package sent - EB - Texas Service Center
