  • Petitioner received approval letter; case status did not update online

We went to the interview last Tuesday. We thought the interview didn't really go well. The interviewer said she may have to request an additional document after confirming with her boss. Today we received a mail addressed to the petitioner that "the case has been approved. The beneficiary will be notified separately." The online status still says "interview was scheduled". I was wondering if anyone knows what're the next steps and how much more waiting we should expect. Thank you!

Nvm, the approval was only for I 130. The letter says adjustment of status is still pending

My case which was filed in 2017 is still showing "Case Was Received" even after it was approved after the 6 months from the filing date.

Wait like 2-4 weeks, even after if you don't receive any mail then try to contact USCIS.

Thanks for responding. I realized it's actually not an approval for adjustment of status. It is only an approval for I-130...

When the beneficiary is outside of the US, they approve the I-130 first. Then, they send it to NVC for consular processing and interview.

If the beneficiary is in the US and you had the interview here and it went well, they approve the 485 and at the same time, the I-130.
          My wife's timeline:
          03/04/19 - Forms 485,130 and 765 received by USCIS
          04/04/19 - Biometric
07/16/19 - RFE issued by USCIS (asked for the 2018 Taxes)
08/13/19 - Evidences received by USCIS
          08/26/19 - Interview was scheduled
          10/01/19 - Interview
10/02/19 - New card is being produced.
          10/07/19 - I-797 received informing the I-130 and I-485 have been approved.
10/07/19 - Card was mailed to my wife
10/10/19 - Card received (7 months and 7 days but her card states "resident since 10/2")

Well, the example above was given based on my personal experience. In 2002, my ex wife filed the I-130 after approval, I had my interview at the American Cosulate overseas.

Now, I filed for my current spouse who is in the US. (I became a USC 13 years ago) and the current status of my I-130 is still 'Received' and she will have an interview ina few weeks. Hopefully both get approved at the same time.

I get what you are saying but it also happens a lot where the i-130 is approved and i-485 is held for review blah blah
