My wife is here on an F-1 visa (we did not originally intend to live here long term, just while she studied), and we recently decided to stay long term, so we filed for a change in status (I-130/864 with I-485/765/131). We sent everything off about two weeks ago.
However, she was just offered a job at the university where she studies (which she is eligible to work with her F-1 visa but only at the university or with some restrictions). Anyway, the start date will almost certainly be before we get anything back from USCIS. There is a separate process to apply for a SSN with an F1 visa. Do we just proceed with that process, and notify USCIS somehow that she has gotten a SSN through her F1 visa? Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!
