I don't understand why they don't text/email the date, that way if we are close to that day we know there is a problem with the letter and we must call to get a copy by fax/email or something.

Did you mention something about the late delivery? Did you call USCIS before Sep 20?

I did not call USCIS since there is no official (USCIS) mentioned timeline for receiving the appointment letter. The attending officers raised no issue when presented with the dated letter so I left “well” alone and went ahead with their instructions.
Texting or emailing the date may not have any real benefit since the appointment letter must be presented at the ASC as the office captures some type of information off that letter.

          Thank you.
The benefit of the text is to know when the appointment is and do something about it (call to get a copy of the letter). I have read a couple of posts from people that had problems by not going to their appointment (biometrics or final interview). I'm glad that you were able to go one business day after the appointment without issues.
