  • Who has your spouse become a citizen while pending?

    Hi there!

I came here with F1 visa and got married 9 months with a permanent resident after my arrival.

I filed I-130 in September 2016 and it was approved in September 2017. By the way, my spouse became a citizen around November 2018, so we submitted I-485, I-765, and I-131 together in December 2018 (no need to wait for visa bulletin become current).

They requested my birth certificate in July 2019, and it was completely reviewed. On September 18, 2019, my case changed to “case is ready to be scheduled for an interview”, but still no EAD card.

It has been 700+ days of my I-130 approval. Does anyone have the same experience with me? Can anyone help me predict how long do I have to wait? Baltimore office is killing me even though I still go to college for full time because my purpose is here to study. At least, I should be able to work now, but nothing good happens!!

Well, your I-130 approval really doesn't have anything to do with your I-485, I-765 and I-131.... they will have their own timeline as they were not filed together. And I-485 applications can take anywhere from 6 months to 26 months, depending on the office. The EAD also has different timelines... you should be able to look up your approximate waiting time on the USCIS website, there is a calculation on the different offices. I just got my I-765 approved after 5 months.

But considering your status has changed to 'ready to be scheduled for interview' you probably shouldn't be that far off. Some people never seem to get the EAD, they go straight through to the greencard.

JoseSandy Baltimore field office waiting time for I-485 seem to be in the range of 13 months to 35 months. That seems like a terrible worst case estimate of about 3 years waiting. Since you got a status update that your "case is ready to be scheduled for interview", it's highly probable that they will schedule your interview soon. Meanwhile be ready with all the documents needed for interview. All the best for you!
