When to apply?

I am a physician,got H1B after J-1 waiver.My three years in underserved area end in feb, 02.Can I apply for AOS now or should wait till the end of the three year period.(I-140/Labour cert already approved.Priority date current).Reason I want to apply now is that H1-B ending in december and i can get EAD and wont have to renew H1.
Would appreciate any input.
