  • What happens if you move out of the country while 485 is pending

My 485 is pending (applied Sept 2007). It is for EB3 with PD of Aug 2005. They way it looks, it will take atleast another 5 years before my PD becomes current. So I am thinking of moving back home. What happens to my 485? Will I still be able to get my GC when my date gets current or at least can I apply for Counsular processing when my date becomes current? Any experts?

If you move out of the US, I-485 will be considered abandoned.

If you still have that job for which the employer sponsored you, you can go through the consular processing.

Thanks you Immihelp for your response. Do you have to notify USCIS that you will be changing to CP once the date becomes current?

      Thanks
