F-1 Student on OPT filing for Adjustment of Status (I485)

Hello everyone, I find these discussion forums extremely helpful for all things immigration and visa related. It shows that you are not alone in this really anxious time! Any experiences out there for F-1 students who are currently on their OPT and have filed for Adjustment of Status (I485) in the year 2019? I have recently filed for family - based adjustment of status in the F2A category and just completed my biometrics appointment. Now waiting for an update on my EAD. Would love to get in touch with anyone in similar situation. I live in Brooklyn, New York.

I am in this situation. I filed in February 2019 and my OPT ended July 2019.
My application was a spousal one, so the timeline may be slightly different, but we had the interview on Monday and the status is now "My new card is being produced".
We live in Tennessee.

Same situation.I am on F1 STEMP OPT Extension.Filed for AOS in F2A category on July 2019.Waiting for EAD and I-485 interview.

Same situation. I applied for AOS through marriage. My OPT STEAM expired Sep 19. I filled in August 19.

I just got done with my Bio appointment earlier this week.

Not on opt but I'm also F1. Filed 485 in September 2018, F2B. I received my EAD in April, but 485 is still "fingerprint review completed. We are working on you case" . My priority date is february 15th, 2014
I have a question though, did you guys use your I-485 EAD, or still use OPT? Would using the 485 EAD violate our f1 status?

From what I read, if you don't have OPT EAD and you use AOS EAD, you will no longer be in F1 status.

This is correct, if you use AOS EAD then you wont be maintaining F1 Status, if you get denied in AOS then you will be out of status immediately, so please be careful about it.

exactly the same reason when i485 employment based AOS people still use H1B visa instead of using the AOS EAD. hope this helps.

I just received an RFE. Not sure what it's about as it hasn't come to my mailbox yet but I'm thinking it has to do something related to my OPT. Kind of nervous :\

What is the RFE about?No updates for me as of now as its been only 102 days since i filed AOS.Usually it takes 4+ months to get an update for F2A category i believe.
Also EAD processing time is 4.5 to 6.5 months at the moment.
